Once awarded an EXCEL grant last fall and a generous contribution from the Hayden Rotary, Friendly Farmers at Hayden Meadows Elementary School went right to work. Volunteers were gathered, materials were purchased, and raised garden beds were built. The first crops to rise in 2013 were tulips and daffodils that Mr. Harvey’s class planted in October. They were dug up and unthawed in early January, force to sprout, and now are blooming! They were decorated by his class and delivered to a number of assisted living facilities in the area.
